Where was our leadership during the financial collapse?

Where is the leadership of this country? Why didn’t anyone come forward and give an articulate explanation why this country economic situation grew out of control. The leadership of this country(USA) is horrible and has been horrible for many years. I still dont know why nobody in our GOV came forward to give us the American people an explanation.
